Hydrogenation Modification of C5 petroleum resin:
Hydrogenation modification is to make C5 petroleum resin moleculess add in the double bond, thereby improving its color and antioxidant stability, can be obtained by hydrogenation modification of white resin. It is reported that 10 to 30% of the mass fraction of hydrogenated petroleum resin road signs paint with sufficient durability, good thermal stability and weather resistance.

Hydrogenation mainly have three methods: slurry, fixed bed, spray tower. The production method comprises the following steps: dissolving petroleum resin in a solvent such as cyclohexane or mineral oil, adding nickel or aluminum catalyst supported on alumina or diatomaceous earth, and conducting hydrogenation reaction under the condition of raising temperature, hydrogenation reaction product of reaction product and the hydrogenated modified petroleum resin is obtained after distillation.

Maleic anhydride modification of petroleum resin:
Due to the poor mobility, poor adhesion, low softening point, and poor polar resin compatibility of C5 petroleum resin, the use of road marking paint is limited. The modification of C5 petroleum resin with maleic anhydride grafted modified C5 petroleum resin significantly improved the performance.

A silane-modified C5 petroleum resin is blended with a thermoplastic elastomer to provide a hot-melt adhesive composition for road marking lacquers with excellent properties. The hot melt adhesive composition can be used in road marking paint to improve the adhesion of glass beads to the road surface, to enhance its strength, to extend the use of time.
